Patio Landscaping Ideas for Summer

During the summer, it’s easy for most kitchen activities to move outside to the patio. However, if your patio is set up and landscaped adequately, in that case, you can turn your backyard into a cozy area perfect for private conversations and entertaining that you’ll want to spend time in all summer long.

If you have a fence or stone perimeter walls near your patio, you can add a wooden lattice to give the walls more height and allow for more privacy. Lattice is also suitable for threading Clematis, Rose, or evergreen vines, adding an elegant and aesthetically pleasing touch to your backyard. For added privacy, you can add a wall around the side of the patio closest to your neighbor’s yard, creating a nook perfect for an outdoor sofa around a central fire pit and a grill. Finally, you can line a side of your patio with small trees or shrubs for a more natural look. A centerpiece in your patio will give your space a put-together appearance that will draw a crowd and your friends’ eyes.

Lighting is a crucial component of your patio. You want enough lighting to make it from the house to your seating area comfortably but not too bright to annoy the neighbors. Vertical lighting along trees, with fixtures that partially obscure the bulbs, provides a happy medium, especially when lined along walkways. You can even pick some edible plants and herbs to be planted around the patio on your way back and forth to the house.
